Velocio Recon Hardshell Jacket takes on all-comers

The Velocio Recon Hardshell Jacket, at £287 is not cheap, not by a long shot, but this is not just a quickly assembled bit of waterproof fabric with arms. It is much more. It’s been crafted, by tailors of Saville Row. Well, maybe that was a step too far but there is no doubting the absolute quality of this jacket on every possible level.

Velocio Recon Hardshell Jacket

Velocio Recon Jacket looks as suitable for a night out, as it does on a bike.

In the looks department it scores highly, the colour is great (also available in petrol blue/green) and the design makes it look like you want to pop on some tailored jeans and go to a trendy city bar in it rather than ride anywhere. Fabrics are 100% waterproof in a deluge (10,000mm), 100% windproof and yet fully breathable so that you don’t drown in sweat on the inside, and the quality Polartec® NeoShell® 3-layer stretch fabric is fully flexible and doesn’t rustle in that annoying way cheaper jackets do. Seams are fully taped on the inside as is now expected on any premium waterproof and zipped pockets are present for your valuables. The jacket also features a moto-inspired snap closure collar and YKK two-way nickel plated metal zipper for high function with style.

So now we’ve quickly got the techy details out of the way, lets get on to the more important bit, how it looks and feels. A lot of work has gone into finalising this jacket before production and release, and it shows. The arms fit well, offering room and length that is perfect when on the drops but not excessive when wearing casually. Internal neoprene-like cuffs caress your wrists to keep the draughts and weather out and remind you that the objective is always performance.
